Sometime around Feb. 20, police said, police began surveilling a man and a woman, after receiving information about the possible purchase and distribution of illegal narcotics. The two traveled to an unknown location in Florida, where police alleged they purchased a large amount of drugs. As they traveled back to Glynn County about 4:40 p.m., a Glynn County police officer attempted to pull the car over for a speeding on I-95. The woman who was driving did not stop. During the pursuit, suspected illegal narcotics were thrown from the vehicle. A Georgia State Patrol trooper used a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver to knock the car from the road. The driver was injured. The man, who was a passenger, was airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition. He was released from the hospital, but the next day, he was transported from his home to the Southeast Georgia Health System - Brunswick Campus, where he died.
